"BE PRODUCTIVE"

This week's GOAL IS: BRIGHTEN & GLOW

Healthy skin exudes a natural glow.  But everyday life—especially now—is packed with challenges that rob your complexion of its radiance.  Stress, lack of sleep, and unhealthy foods can seem unavoidable and all of them contribute to dull, tired looking skin.

Follow these six steps to achieve this week’s “BE PRODUCTIVE” goal of luminous glowing skin:

1. Cleanse Twice Daily
Use a mild cleanser like our  MGMD Green Tea Antioxidant Cleanser morning and night to remove debris like dirt, makeup and oil that can clog pores and cause dullness.  Use a quarter-size amount and use your fingertips to massage in circles over your entire face.  Make sure to rinse thoroughly by splashing with warm water.

2. Exfoliate Weekly
Exfoliation means removing the top dead layer of skin.  Normal skin turns over every 7 days. That means that the new plump cells at the bottom layer flatten and move to the top layer before they slough off.  Exfoliation helps that process by getting rid of that top dead layer.  However, too much or too aggressive exfoliation can disrupt the barrier function of the skin and leave dry rough patches. Exfoliating once or twice a week should do the trick and we love MGMD Thermal Exfoliating Scrub for the task.  Add water to a quarter-size dollop in your palm, then use your fingertips to massage onto your entire face--with extra attention to the T-zone.

3. Incorporate Brightening  Ingredients Into Your Regimen
MGMD’s mantra is Advanced Science for Beautiful Skin and we select ingredients for our products with skin brightening characteristics supported by scientific evidence. We love our MGMD Brightening Pads containing Kojic acid, Arbutin and Bearberry.  All three ingredients naturally brighten skin and promote even skin tone.  Use daily as a toner after cleansing.

Vitamin C is a scientifically proven antioxidant that brightens the skin by blocking an enzyme needed to produce pigment.  However, Vitamin C is difficult to stabilize and other products often only deliver a tiny amount despite claiming otherwise. Our best-selling  MGMD Vitamin C Brightening Serum delivers 20% Vitamin C.
Daily application of these brighteners can lighten brown spots and illuminate your skin over time.

4. Hydrate
Dehydrated skin is dull, lifeless and accentuates lines and wrinkles.  Hydrated skin is plump, dewy and GLOWS.  For normal and more oily, acne prone skin we love our MGMD Ultralite Moisture Dew.  For overnight moisture recovery  try our MGMD Replenish Night Cream which can be used daytime too for dry skin.

For a quick fix try a mask. Our patients love our MGMD Biocellulose Recovery Mask which is used post-laser procedures to speed recovery and can also be used anytime to nourish your skin with antioxidants and moisture-retaining molecules.

Another trick used by celebrity make-up artists to jump-start your moisturizer and get your glow on is to add a few drops of a hyaluronic acid serum like our MGMD  Pure Hydration HA Serum prior to applying your moisturizer.  Hyaluronic acid holds on to 1000X its weight in water and boosts the hydrating effect of any moisturizer.

5. Eat antioxidant rich food
We all know “we are what we eat,” and that is definitely true for our skin.  Eating antioxidant rich foods can help your skin glow.  Make yourself an avocado smoothie (vanilla frozen yogurt, almond milk, avocado, honey) and check out this link for more healthy, skin-nourishing suggestions.

Get some sleep!!!
