Ask Dr. Goldberg

“The award-winning HydraFacial System advances skin health by combining superficial exfoliation techniques such as microdermabrasion and chemical peels with hydrating infusions using advanced medical technology. This procedure can be used as a stand alone or in conjunction with other procedures such as dermaplaning and lymphatic drainage” —Dr. Michele Grodberg

DR. GRODBERG’S ANSWERS TO A FEW FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT HYDRAFACIAL:

“HydraFacial™ is the only hydra-dermabrasion procedure that combines cleansing, extraction and hydration simultaneously, resulting in clearer, more beautiful skin with little-to-no downtime.”

“The treatment is soothing, moisturizing, non-invasive and generally non-irritating.”

“Although there are immediate benefits after one treatment, we recommend a series of 5 to 6 treatments spaced 4 weeks apart for best results. This protocol may vary when treating different conditions, such as pre-procedure and skin discoloration.”

“Your treatment can be customized with different serums and protocols to address your specific concerns. We will help you choose the treatment that matches your skin type and your issues.”

Boosters available at MGMD Dermatology:

  • CTGF™ Boost to improve the appearance of skin tone, texture, and elasticity
  • DermaBuilder™ Boost to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles
  • Britenol® Boost to minimize the appearance of dark spots
  • Clarifying Protocol for extended extractions and Blue LED light therapy

“The suctioning action may cause the skin to feel tight and look slightly red, but these conditions typically subside within a few hours depending on skin sensitivity. You may experience tingling and stinging during the treatment. These sensations usually subside within three hours of treatment. Although uncommon, some patients may experience streaking of the skin from increased blood flow, which will fade gradually over a day or two. Overall, results can be achieved with little to no downtime.”

"The treated area is more susceptible to sunburn, sun damage and hyperpigmentation. Avoid direct sun exposure and use a minimum of SPF 30 sunscreen. Aggressive exfoliation, waxing and products containing acids should be avoided in the treatment area for a minimum of two weeks pre- and post-treatment. Avoid the use of Retin-A type products pre- and post-treatment. You will likely see results immediately after treatment and your skin will feel smooth and hydrated for one to four weeks. For improved, longer lasting results follow the MGMD® maintenance and care regimen listed below and consider monthly HydraFacial treatments."
