Background

I was raised just outside New York City in Englewood Cliffs, Bergen County, NJ, and attended Dwight-Englewood High School. My parents prioritized education and an appreciation for the arts, sharing with me their love of the ballet, opera, museums and other cultural benefits of nearby Manhattan. My father was a physician on staff for many years at Englewood Hospital, where I was introduced to the medical community at a young age – going on “rounds” with my Dad, volunteering and then working in the pathology and hematology labs during the summers of high school. My father’s practice as a deeply caring hematologist-oncologist, with a profound appreciation of his patients that was fully returned, remains a model I aspire to in my relationships with my patients. My mother was also a dedicated medical practitioner, working as a physical therapist until very recently.

Professional Influences

While my mother and two younger sisters have always been models of strong women for me, it is my brilliant women classmates at Swarthmore College who convinced me that I was capable of remarkable things. Our professional accomplishments in fields as diverse as tech, public company finance, politics, education, the arts, and my field of medicine are the product of dedication, discipline, and a belief in ourselves that was often not shared by society during our formative years. They remain my closest friends as we have journeyed through the challenges of our professional lives, relationships, and family. They constantly fuel my desire to strive for excellence and an open-minded approach to the diversity of humanity, while trying to make a positive impact on the world.

I have also been fortunate to learn from extraordinary teachers, mentors, and colleagues in medicine. I enjoy strong connections among many of my esteemed colleagues which we renew and nurture at professional conferences on a regular basis. These gatherings keep me up to date with the latest developments in the evolution of both medical and aesthetic dermatology, and the exciting innovations emerging in those fields are a constant source of excitement for me in helping my patients seek health and a beautiful balance. All of this is founded in the excellent medical training I received at NYU Dermatology, NYU Medical School and Harvard Beth Israel in Boston. That network of dedicated physicians provides me with a deep bench of support and resources in all areas of medicine as needed for my patients.

Hobbies and Outside Interests

I qualify as a “fitness buff” albeit one who engages in a diverse mix of fitness activities, including running, hiking, Peloton biking, downhill skiing, and of course walking my dog Bella. I have grown to enjoy watching baseball, important because my son is an accomplished player on track to play Division 1 baseball after his High School career.

What I love about my work

I love being a dermatologist. Not only our largest organ, our skin is a vital element of our self-image and a sensitive indicator of our overall health. Medically, the field of dermatology is deeply stimulating and challenging. Aesthetically, it has been a privilege to work with my patients to address issues and help them find their unique, beautiful balance. Research and technology are constantly introducing remarkable new treatments, and the opportunity to do more to help my patients feel beautiful and better about themselves and their appearance is constantly rewarding. My practice would be impossible without my dedicated team of nurses and office staff, who share my prioritization of my patients’ needs above all else. Aesthetic dermatology requires an artistic  and creative eye. While a deep medical knowledge provides the foundation for effective, safe, and enduring aesthetic treatments, each patient presents unique  aesthetic challenges and opportunities. Years of working with my patients to feel beautiful have allowed me to develop a practiced eye and excellent judgment about what will work best for each patient. I am “hands on” and apply my aesthetic sensibility, understanding of proportion, balance and anatomy and how best to achieve a pleasing result, choosing among the many procedures and techniques available to me in my office.  My goal is to help each patient look and feel better. My relationships with my patients are wonderfully rewarding and I feel privileged to be a doctor trusted by so many extraordinary people.
