WHAT IS SOFTWAVE™?

Sofwave™ is an FDA-cleared, non-invasive ultrasound treatment designed to improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles by stimulating new collagen and elastin production in the skin. Sofwave™ uses proprietary SUPERB™ (Synchronous Ultrasound Parallel Beam) technology to deliver controlled thermal energy to the mid-dermis, where collagen remodeling occurs—without damaging the skin surface or underlying structures. In December 2022, Sofwave™ also received FDA clearance for the short-term improvement of cellulite."

HOW DOES SOFWAVE™ WORK?

Most patients tolerate the procedure well with cooling alone, though a topical numbing cream may be applied prior to treatment. During the treatment, patients may experience brief sensations of warmth as the ultrasound energy is delivered. Treatment time typically ranges from 30 to 45 minutes, depending on the area treated. No special post-treatment care is required, and normal daily activities may be resumed immediately.

Most patients require one to two treatments, depending on skin condition and treatment goals. Dr. Grodberg will determine the appropriate treatment plan during consultation.

Collagen regeneration is a gradual process. While some patients notice improvement sooner, optimal results typically develop over 6 to 12 weeks following treatment, with continued improvement over the ensuing months.

More aggressive treatments, such as ablative lasers, can require significant downtime and carry higher risks. Other non-invasive technologies may be gentler but often provide limited efficacy or require multiple sessions.
